Nike ACG sneakers is already making strides with its recent efforts to return to its outdoorsy form. “We’re definitely thinking about the past and how things were done,” ACG design director Nur Abbas tells Highsnobiety. “In terms of innovation, we also think back to the beginning. They were making the best gear to get outdoors.” This delicate balance between reexamining Nike ACG’s storied past and looking forward to the future lends to their current direction of technical gear imbued with a keen sense of nostalgia.

The ACG Air Deschutz is a prime example of both Nike ACG’s sneakers for men and women current direction to reconnect its relationship with nature as well as its fondness to look towards the past. A reimagined silhouette first introduced in 1992, the Air Deschutz combines the comfort of a sandal with the performance of a shoe. Bold colorways and a bold ‘90s style logo featured on the sole outline its retro leanings. Rounding out the design is the phrase “Nike ACG — All Conditions Gear — Designed & Tested in Oregon, USA,” which can be found etched into the rear of the heel.

While the Air Deschutz retained much of its original design, there was space for innovation.  A couple key improvements from the OG Nike sneakers include: an updated foam for a softer underfoot ride; a wider footbed to fit a variety of foot shapes and sizes; and the addition of a Full Sticky Rubber outsole for increased traction. The performance look was designed for use on the trail for hikes, trail runs and more, but is equally as good for casual wear.

The classically-styled, innovation-driven Nike ACG Air Deschutz carries its division label’s ethos very well. The Nike ACG Air Deschutz is available today in-store and Commonwealth online.
